Surrounded by lush rainforests, Jaco is a gateway to Costa Rica’s natural wonders. Within a short distance, you can explore the enchanting Manuel Antonio National Park, known for its diverse wildlife, hiking trails, and pristine beaches. Embark on a canopy tour to experience the thrill of ziplining through the rainforest or take a boat tour to witness the magnificence of migrating humpback whales. See my tips on a visit to Manuel Antonio in my post here, make sure you know where to park!

My kids also enjoyed a quick stop at the Crocodile Bridge, located near Jaco. It is a renowned attraction that offers a unique opportunity to observe impressive American crocodiles in their natural habitat. Spanning the Tarcoles River, the bridge provides an elevated vantage point for visitors to witness these ancient reptiles up close. Many visitors stop at the bridge to take photographs or simply marvel at the incredible sight of the crocodiles, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. The Crocodile Bridge offers a safe and convenient way to observe these fascinating reptiles in their natural environment.

Adventure Activities: For the adrenaline seekers, Jaco offers a myriad of outdoor activities. Take a thrilling ATV tour through rugged terrains, ride horseback along the beach at sunset, go ziplining, or go on a jungle hike to discover hidden waterfalls. White-water rafting enthusiasts can tackle the rapids of the nearby Naranjo and Savegre rivers for an exhilarating experience. We did ziplining at The Ocean Ranch Park. It is nestled within a sprawling private estate. Ocean Ranch Park is an eco-adventure park provides visitors with a range of exciting activities and opportunities to explore the country’s diverse flora and fauna. I’d recommend you check them out for any of the adventures listed above.

Wildlife lovers will be delighted by the abundance of opportunities to spot fascinating creatures. Explore the Carara National Park, renowned for its incredible birdwatching, where you might catch a glimpse of the vibrant scarlet macaws, toucans, or the elusive quetzal.

Vibrant Nightlife: As the sun sets, Jaco comes alive with its vibrant nightlife scene. The town offers a diverse range of restaurants, bars, and clubs that cater to all tastes. Enjoy a delicious meal of fresh seafood or traditional Costa Rican cuisine. If you are into the nightlife scene Jaco had quite the variety of bars and live music playing. According to the locals it is a great place to immerse yourself with dancing to the Latin beats.

Local Culture: Jaco provides an opportunity to experience the warm and welcoming culture of Costa Rica. Explore the town’s markets and artisan shops, where you can find unique souvenirs, handmade crafts, and local artwork. Engage with the friendly locals, known as Ticos, who are always ready to share their traditions and stories.

The town actively promotes eco-tourism initiatives, such as turtle conservation projects and efforts to protect the surrounding ecosystems.
