Embarking on a memorable cruise adventure, we got to visit the port of Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where the promise of tropical wonders and cultural delights awaited us. As our cruise ship navigated the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, anticipation buzzed among fellow travelers, each eager to explore the vibrant tapestry of Ocho Rios. We talked to several people on our ship and each person had different plans for the port. From cascading waterfalls to historic landmarks, our day in Ocho Rios offered an array of experiences that would etch the allure of this port town into our travel memories forever.

Ocho Rios is located on the northern coast of Jamaica, it is a vibrant and picturesque destination known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse attractions. Here’s a guide to some of the top things I found to do in Ocho Rios:

Jamaica Attractions:

Dunn’s River Falls: Dunn’s River Falls captivates with its awe-inspiring cascade, stretching over an impressive 960 feet. Renowned as one of the island’s cherished travel destinations, it stands as a quintessential ‘must-do’ experience. The most popular (expect large crowds) activity is climbing up the falls and then swimming in one of the several pools along the way.

Dive into the thrill of a rainforest bobsled ride, a unique and exciting way to navigate the terrain. Glide through the treetops with a zip-lining adventure that offers breathtaking views of the coastline. For a more serene but equally awe-inspiring experience, take the Sky Explorer chairlift, providing panoramic vistas that capture the essence of Jamaica’s coastal beauty. Mystic Mountain is an adventure haven that promises to satisfy every thrill-seeker’s craving for excitement. Be aware that it is currently closed as of December 2023 for renovations. It is expected to reopen in the future, but the date is unknown.

From vibrant paintings and wooden carvings to intricate beadwork and handmade jewelry, the market is a sensory delight. Negotiate prices in a friendly and laid-back atmosphere, adding a personalized touch to your purchases. My girls enjoyed getting their hair braided at the market, as stated above make sure you negotiate prices or you will pay a lot more than a fare price!
