  2. Ensure that you have an active internet connection and are signed in to your Google Maps account.
  3. Search for a specific place, such as Paris, France.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, tap on the name or address of the place.
  5. Tap on “More” (represented by three dots) and then select “Download offline map.”
  6. Adjust the map according to the area you want to download
  7. If you searched for a restaurant or similar place, tap on “More” (represented by three dots) again, then select “Download offline map,” and finally tap on “Download.”

Use offline maps

Once you have downloaded an area, you can use the Google Maps app as you normally would. If you find yourself with a slow or no internet connection, your offline maps will still guide you to your destination, as long as the entire route falls within the downloaded map.

Here are some key things to note about using offline maps:

  1. Get directions and view routes: You can still obtain directions and view routes using the offline maps you downloaded.
  2. Utilize navigation: Offline navigation is available, allowing you to follow turn-by-turn directions even without an internet connection.
  3. Search for locations: You can search for specific places or addresses within your downloaded offline maps.
  4. Keep in mind limitations: Offline maps do have some limitations. You won’t receive transit, bicycling, or walking directions offline. Additionally, traffic information, alternate routes, and lane guidance will not be available in your offline driving directions.

By being aware of these limitations, you can make the most of Google Maps’ offline functionality and navigate effectively, even without a reliable internet connection.
