Na Mora Canyon stands as a true gem among the scenic wonders of Mallorca. Its captivating beauty is split into distinct halves, each offering its own set of thrilling challenges. In the initial stretch, adventurers will face exhilarating jumps, and navigate their way down waterfalls through abseiling/rappelling. As you venture deeper into the second half, the stakes rise, presenting iconic features like Sa Fosqueta (a dark section) and a spectacular exit leading directly to the sea, provided the ocean conditions permit. This canyon promises an unforgettable journey through nature’s grandeur, inviting intrepid souls to embrace its exhilarating trials.
Before I jump into more details I want to note that canyoning is an adventurous and physically demanding activity that involves navigating natural watercourses, often in rugged and remote environments. If you don’t have the proper skills to rappel, swim, climb, or navigate please consider hiring a guide.

Access:
I will provide a downloadable map below that shows this route. To reach the starting point from Soller, take the Ma-10 towards Port de Pollença for approximately 7 km, and then park at Mirador de ses Barques. This is a nice look out where you can look back over the ocean. It can be crowded here, but wait a few minutes and a parking spot should open up if one was unavailable.
Approach:
Starting from the Mirador de ses Barques parking lot, climb over the low walls heading northeast. Follow the dirt road, this road is closed to vehicles (except for local residents). Continue heading northeast towards the Bàlitx d’Avall (bed and breakfast). We enjoyed the hike through the old olive orchards. In about 2.4 miles, when you reach the watercourse (which may sometimes be dry), follow it on the right bank of the river. There will be some bushwhacking for approximately .25 miles. After a well-defined left bend, search for a path leading down to the wash, which will take you to the entrance of the first canyon section.
Descent:
Descend into the mesmerizing Na Mora Canyon, a natural wonder in Mallorca that beckons adventurers with its breathtaking two-part journey. The initial stretch of this canyon promises a thrilling array of experiences, including navigating through dark sections, where the canyon narrows and the walls tower overhead, creating an enchanting yet slightly eerie atmosphere. Here, you’ll encounter exhilarating jumps that will test your mettle and a series of rappels down waterfalls that add an extra layer of excitement to the adventure.
As you venture deeper into the second half of Na Mora, the landscape transforms, revealing even more spectacular sights. Highlights of this section include Sa Fosqueta, a mesmerizing feature that showcases the raw power of nature, and the exit that leads you directly to the sea, offering an awe-inspiring culmination to your journey. It’s worth noting that the optimal season for exploring this canyon is typically in early April, as water flow tends to be more consistent during this period.
Na Mora Canyon offers two potential exits, providing flexibility based on the prevailing conditions. If the seas prove too rough for a swimming exit, there’s an alternative option to hike out before reaching the ocean. It’s crucial to exercise caution in rough sea conditions, especially near the final drop, as powerful waves can pose a serious risk. Leave fixed ropes on the last drops if you are unsure of the exit. Tragically, there have been incidents in the past, underscoring the importance of safety awareness.
In favorable conditions, as we were fortunate enough to experience, a calm ocean allows for a unique opportunity to snorkel out of the canyon. This added dimension to the adventure provides a memorable and immersive conclusion to the Na Mora experience, allowing participants to connect even more intimately with the natural beauty of this remarkable location.
Return:
In very calm seas (refer to internet resources for sea state forecasts like this one), leave the cove and swim towards the southwest for approximately 300-400 meters. There are a few easy climbing spots from the ocean. Follow the path you decide on until you reach a flat trail that follows the coastline. This path is on the gps track below. leading to a platform from which a path for ascent begins (photos can be found in the useful library section). If you swim a bit further, there is supposed to be a small pebble beach called Es Joncar, where you can find an additional path.
The journey back via the path to Soller presents a magnificent walking experience. The well marked path that takes you directly into Port de Sóller.
Na Mora Canyon undeniably stands as a remarkable adventure, offering a thrilling combination of challenges and natural beauty. However, stay tuned, as there are even more exhilarating canyons waiting to be explored in Mallorca. In the near future, I’ll be sharing insights on two equally captivating or perhaps even superior canyons that promise to provide unforgettable experiences for those seeking the ultimate in outdoor exploration. Stay excited, and get ready for more thrilling escapades in Mallorca’s awe-inspiring natural landscapes!
